What are cuticles? The Cuticle or Eponyclium is the living skin tissue found around the top of the nail plate. The "true cuticle" is the dead skin your cuticle is trying to shed. This is the only part of the cuticle that needs to be exfoliated. The living skin tissue (eponyclium) must not be ripped or cut but pushed back gently using the appropriate oil or cream and tools. The cuticle should be kept moisturised and healthy, as it protects the matrix from infection and is responsible for flattening and shaping the new nail cells as they grow out.
If your cuticles are dry and crusty, peeling and torn or sore and bitten, you are opening your fingers and nails to infection and possible permanent damage.
Using Alpha Hydroxy Acid Cuticle Eraser, Solar Oil, Solar Balm or Nail Tek Renew, will moisturise, exfoliate, repair and prevent further damage to your cuticles.
